• KEYS:
  There are three Keys.
  1) Entrance Gate,
  2) External House Gates,
  3) House doors (different Keys depending on the related door).
  We are in a safe area but remember to close the doors when you leave the house.
• WATER:
  The water is from a deep well. It is good for cooking and washing. We suggest using bottles of water for drinking. Water is the most precious resource in Sicily. We truly appreciate if you use it with respect and attention.
  Hot water is supplied by boilers serving each of the three bathrooms. In the bathroom of the ‘princess’s room’, the room with the en suite bathroom, be careful not to press the button on which we have cautiously placed a scotch tape
  because it turns off the boiler and consequently the hot water.
• WATER PRESSURE:
  Always mix hot and cold water, in Sicily it is very hot so the water runs hot, be careful!
• ELECTRICITY:
  The central fuse box is in the kitchen room, between the two doors. We suggest not to use many electronic devices at the same time. In case of any problem please call the numbers below.*
• AIR CONDITIONING:
  Rooms and kitchen are equipped with wall air conditioning. Please use the remote controls to select programs and remember to switch off the system if you leave the house.
• WASHING AND DISHWASHER MACHINES:
  Washing and dishwasher machines are simple and easy to use. Please select the best program and press start. We appreciate if you use them with respect for environment and consumption. Please clean up any unwanted food as pests like ants find food.
• GAS HOB:
  Kitchen is equipped with a hob generated by a gas tank. In case of running out of gas please call the numbers below immediatly.
• RUBBISH AND WASTE:
  At the end and during your stay please empty your rubbish and take it to the Rubbish Collection. Unfortunately, in the countryside of Noto they do not collect rubbish so it has to be taken to the ecological area: “the Ecological island” is the Noto Wasting Centre (google maps: CENTRO COMUNALE DI RACCOLTA RIFIUTI NOTO Sp0 115 Street). On the way to Noto, from the house you will find it on the right on the SP 115 Street.
  It is open every day 8 AM – 13 AM and 02.30 PM – 3.50 PM
  You can bring all kinds of waste. Please find here type of wastes:
  – non differenziata = non-recyclable
  – carta = paper
  – plastica = plastic
  – vetro = glass

• SEPTIC TANK:
  Please throw only small amount of toilet paper in the WC. Please don’t put any tampons, sanitary, plastic towels and scraps down the toilets as they are blocking the pipes. Please use the bins next to the WC. All houses in the countryside just have a septic tank.
• DOGS AND ANIMALS:
  We have an unconditional love for animals, but stray dogs left at themselves in Sicily is a plague, we invite you not to feed stray dogs at all because they would end up to station in the garden, dirtying and sleeping on sofas with consequent discomfort for you guests.
• SMOKING:
  Smoking is forbidden in the house, please use ashtrays and smoke outside, thank you.
• INTERNET WIFI:
  The house is covered with wireless connection TPLINK with full signal in the kitchen, bedrooms and living room.

• LIGHTING:
  Garden Lighting are managed by the electric system at the kitchen entrance.

The use of pool is at your own risk as there is no lifeguard. We kindly ask you to always take a shower before entering the pool. Shower must be taken again if you use suncreams.

The property maintenance activities will be done every week. POOL & GARDEN Saturday Morning. Sorry in advance in case any noise should disturb your staying.

It may happen sometimes to see workers around the property. Especially in summertime they manage the irrigation system and they take care of cultivations. They will respect your privacy but please consider these works as mandatory for the nature.

• Check In: Check in is at 3.00 pm but please ask in case of diverse needs.
• Check Out: Check out is at 10.00 am o’clock but please ask in case of diverse needs.
• Sheets and towels: Please put the sheets and towels on a pile when leaving.
• Kitchen: Please leave the kitchen tidy.
• Rubbish: Please empty the rubbish.
• Notes: If things are broken during your stay (light bulbs, the drain is clogged or other things) we would be grateful if you could let us know. Thank you.

  Located near restaurant Assinaro. At the Energy Plant turn right in direction of Noto. Turn the first to the right and go to the next turnaround. • “Riserva Naturale di Vendicari” – by far the best beach of whole oriental Sicily. 10 minutes driving. Directions: at the end of the road turn right in direction of the highway. Follow indication in direction of Portopalo and you will find access to five different beaches. In order, going south

o Marianelli – naturist beach – beautiful restaurant at the parking
o Calamosche – once voted the most beautiful beach of Italy

Syracuse area and North:

• “Scoglio” (The Rock) in Ortygia which is located on Lungomare di Levante. It is usually crowded and quite uncomfortable to lay down, but it is the easiest spot for a nice swim in the sea. In the summertime there is an additional wood platform to accommodate more people and facilitate the access to the sea.

• “Solarium Ortigia Nettuno” on Lungomare di Levante in Ortygia. Open only in the summer. With bar and self-service restaurant. Price for two sunbeds and one umbrella around €30.

• “Area M” in Ortygia has a modern stylish wood deck with sunbeds. With bar and restaurant, it is located in Riva Nazario Sauro 6, right after Talete Parking

• Plemmirio natural reserve, which is south of Syracuse, opposite Ortygia. Follow “Arenella” and then the “Plemmirio” and “Guardia di Finanza” signs. Discover the many beautiful spots. No bars or services there; bring your own food.

• Plemmirio Peninsula – 30 minutes driving
o “Lido Cala Zafiro”– Via degli Zaffiri. Wood patios on the rocks. With bar and restaurant
o “Lido Varco Venti3” – Via degli Zaffiri. With beach volley, bar and restaurant

• Arenella – 20 minutes driving north (exit highway Cassibile)
o Arenella beach, sandy beach with umbrella and chairs. For children.
o Le Nereidi, wood platform with bar. Usually no children.

• Fontane Bianche – 20 minutes driving north (exit highway Cassibile)
o “Sayonara” beach. Crowded and young atmosphere, with loud music.

• Modica (30 min driving) – last Sunday of each month, from 8:00am to 3:00pm. This is our favourite market!
• Syracuse market (30 min driving) – every Sunday morning in Piazza Santa Lucia, from 8:00am to 1:00pm. It is a poor flee market where you can find antiques for very small price.

Going North

• CAVAGRANDE LAGHETTI DI AVOLA– An amazing canyon with a river creating beautiful natural pools you can swim and dive in. A must see. You need to wear gym shoes to access the site. It takes 45 minutes walking to descend and return back to car park. You must be in good health condition.
• SYRACUSE – With its historical centre named Ortygia, as well as the Archeological Park. Greek tragedy performance on May and June.
• CATANIA – The centre of Town with its Duomo, Via dei Crociferi, Via Etnea
• ETNA VULCAN– Organize a tour on the Etna Vulcan, taking the cable car from Rifugio Sapienza www.funiviaetna.com
• TAORMINA – The famous promenade and the Ancient Theatre

Going West

• PALAZZOLO ACREIDE
• PANTALICA NATURAL RESERVE – A walk in the nature where you can see the rest of prehistoric caves. You can enter the reserve either from Ferla or Sortino towns.
• CALTAGIRONE AND PIAZZA ARMERINA – Villa Romana del Casale – a wonderful well preserved Roman villa discovered in 1950 with great floor mosaics

Going South

The estate spreads out over the countryside 3 Km from Noto, the town with the most beautiful baroque balconies in the world, a UNESCO heritage site. Only 6 km faraway from Vendicari natural reserve, nestled at the foot of the Hyblaen Mountains, and along an ancient carriageway leading to the village of Castelluccio. Volpiglia is located right in the middle of a strategic corner in the southern east part of Sicily with the possibility to easily get Modica, Scicli, Ragusa and Siracusa. The property extends over 15 hectares with olive, orange, lemon and almond groves in addition to many Carob trees and an infinite variety of fruit trees.
